Whether you’re writing or answering a performance evaluation, keep in mind that the goal is to produce the practice of working and doing the job better. A performance evaluation is an official review of an employee’s work performance in a particular time frame. If you are reluctant to be completely honest, feel free to inform your supervisor that you prefer to focus on your own performance and how you can improve. You can also consider the general level of competence of your manager, your ability to follow the company’s protocols and your relationship with you and the rest of the staff. Managers give their employees reviews so they know how they are doing and what they can improve the following year. Then the manager could be too generous, remembering only the last weeks. Managers and employees who use the evaluation procedure to set performance goals can constantly increase work performance and total human resource productivity as time goes by.
